More About Myofascial Release

What is Fascia?

Fascia is a tough connective tissue which spreads throughout the body in a three-dimensional web from head to foot without interruption. It weaves around and through all parts of the body; skin, muscles, bones, blood and lymph vessels, nerves, brain and internal organs.

Fascia affects our posture, movement, joint mobility, organ function and general well-being.

When it is healthy, fascia is stretchy and moves without restriction enabling us to move efficiently, maintain good posture and circulation, optimal nerve function and overall physiological balance.

When we experience emotional trauma, scarring from surgery, inflammation, poor posture, repetitive stress or physical injuries our fascia loses its pliability. It becomes tight and restricted, and this leads to pain, headaches, loss of flexibility and stress.

What is Myofascial Release?

Myofascial Release as developed by John Barnes PT, is the gentle application of sustained pressure that goes deep into the fascial restriction and allows the tissue to soften and lengthen.

MFR is done without oil or lotion.

MFR is safe and gentle.

MFR addresses the root of the problem and achieves lasting results.
